Rainwater Harvesting is Mandatory in Bangalore
The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has made rainwater harvesting (RWH) mandatory for:
- New construction: All buildings on sites ≥1,200 sq ft (30×40 and above)
- Existing buildings (pre-2009): Properties on sites ≥2,400 sq ft
Penalties for non-compliance: ₹5,000 fine per month, and BWSSB may disconnect your water supply connection. Many apartment associations and villa owners have already received notices.
Why Bangalore Desperately Needs RWH
Bangalore's water crisis is well-documented — BWSSB supplies about 900 MLD against a demand of 1,500 MLD. Over 3,000 borewells dried up in 2024 alone. Water tanker prices have spiked from ₹600-800 to ₹2,000+ per 6,000 litres. Rainwater harvesting is no longer optional — it's a survival necessity for Bangalore homeowners.
Our RWH Installation Services
Rooftop Collection System
We install gutters, downpipes, first-flush diverters, and filtration units to channel rooftop rainwater into storage tanks or recharge pits. The system is designed to handle Bangalore's rainfall pattern with zero overflow waste.
Borewell/Ground Recharge
For properties with borewells, we design recharge systems that filter rainwater and direct it into the ground to replenish the water table. This includes recharge pits, percolation chambers, and injection wells. See our dedicated borewell recharge installation page for pricing, process and a recent project.
Storage Tank Systems
We install above-ground or underground storage tanks (2,000–50,000 litres) with filtration and pumping systems for stored rainwater to be used for gardening, flushing, washing, and with proper treatment, even drinking.

🏗️ Building a new house?
RWH must be shown in your building plan for BBMP/BDA approval, and verified again for your Occupancy Certificate. Plan it in from day one — 30-50% cheaper than adding it after construction. Read our new construction guide →
BWSSB Compliance Certificate
After installation, we help you apply for and obtain the BWSSB compliance certificate. This certificate proves your property meets the mandatory RWH requirement and protects you from fines and water disconnection.
