Borewell Recharge Pit Installation in Bangalore

Revive your dry or low-yield borewell with a professionally built recharge pit. Filtered rooftop rainwater goes straight back into the aquifer your borewell draws from — and it counts for BWSSB RWH compliance. From ₹25,000, free site inspection.

Why Bangalore Borewells Are Going Dry

Bangalore's groundwater table has been falling for two decades. Borewells that hit water at 400 ft in 2010 now need 1,000–1,500 ft, and thousands of borewells across the city have gone completely dry. The cause is simple: the city extracts far more groundwater than rain can naturally return, because 90% of rainfall runs off concrete and roads into storm drains instead of soaking into the ground.

A borewell recharge pit reverses this for your plot. Instead of letting your rooftop rainwater flow into the street, it filters that water and channels it directly into your borewell casing — recharging exactly the aquifer your pump draws from.

How a Borewell Recharge Pit Works

  • Collection: Rooftop rainwater is routed via existing downpipes to the pit location near your borewell.
  • Filtration: The pit is layered with graded filter media — boulders, 40mm metal, coarse aggregate and filter sand — so only clean water reaches the casing.
  • Recharge: The borewell casing is slotted below filter level, letting filtered water enter and travel down to the aquifer.
  • Overflow: Excess water percolates into surrounding soil, raising the local water table.

For plots with high rainwater volume or poor soil percolation, we build a two-stage system: a silt trap and percolation chamber first, then the recharge pit — the same design we installed at AJS Palace, Hulimangala (see below).

Recent Project: Two-Stage Borewell Recharge, Hulimangala

At AJS Palace in Hulimangala (off Electronic City), we designed and installed a two-stage borewell recharge system: a silt trap and percolation chamber capturing rooftop runoff, feeding a filtered recharge pit at the borewell. The staged design protects the casing from silt while maximising recharge volume during heavy monsoon spells — the right approach for larger roofs in fast-developing areas where construction dust is heavy.

Borewell Recharge & BWSSB Compliance

A properly constructed borewell recharge structure qualifies as a groundwater recharge system under BWSSB rainwater harvesting rules. If your plot is 1,200 sq ft or above and you've received a BWSSB notice — or you're already being charged the monthly RWH penalty on your water bill — a recharge pit solves compliance and revives your borewell in one project. We assist with the compliance documentation. Read our full guide: BWSSB RWH Compliance Rules.

Our Process

  • Day 0: Free site inspection — roof area, borewell condition, soil check, downpipe routing
  • Day 1: Written quote with system design and itemised scope
  • Days 2–5: Excavation, filter media layering, casing slotting, plumbing connections
  • Handover: Mesh cover fitting, site clean-up, maintenance guidance, compliance documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this work if my borewell is completely dry?

Usually yes. A dry borewell means the local aquifer is depleted, not destroyed. Recharge pits refill that aquifer — most dry borewells show measurable recovery within 1–2 monsoon seasons. During inspection we assess casing condition to confirm suitability.

How much water can a recharge pit send into my borewell?

A 1,200 sq ft roof in Bangalore receives roughly 1 lakh litres of rain per year. With a well-built recharge system, 80–90% of that can reach your aquifer instead of the storm drain.

Does the pit need maintenance?

Once a year, before monsoon: clean the silt trap and check the top filter layer. We offer this as part of an annual maintenance visit.

Do you serve my area?

We install borewell recharge systems across Bangalore — Electronic City, Hulimangala, Sarjapur, Yelahanka, Whitefield, HSR Layout, JP Nagar and surrounding areas.
