The System We Installed
With a 750 sq ft plot, the property has two separate roof downpipes carrying rainwater — so rather than combining them into a single collection point, we installed a dedicated rain filter on each downpipe. Each filter unit has its own isolation valve, visible in the photo, so either line can be shut off independently for maintenance without affecting the other.
Instead of routing the filtered water to a storage tank, this system feeds directly into the property's borewell for recharge. For a plot this size without space or need for a large storage setup, direct recharge is often the more practical route — it replenishes groundwater at the source rather than requiring tank space and separate plumbing for storage and distribution.
Managing the Job Remotely
Since Ajay Kumar doesn't live near the property, the usual back-and-forth of a home improvement job — daily check-ins, on-site decisions, coordinating access — wasn't possible the normal way. We handled the site visit, installation, and progress updates directly, so his involvement was minimal beyond the initial brief and final confirmation.
The full installation — both downpipe filter units, piping, valves, and connecting the system to the borewell for direct recharge — took two days.

Why Direct Borewell Recharge Makes Sense for Smaller Plots
On a 750 sq ft plot, space for a large storage tank is often limited, and the practical value of a smaller storage system can be marginal compared to the ongoing benefit of recharging the borewell directly. Direct recharge systems are simpler to install, need less space, and address the same core compliance and water-table goals that a storage-based system does — just through a different mechanism.
